Your risk appetite is how much residual risk you're prepared to accept for each type of risk. Conform compares every unit's residual risk with it, so you can see at once which risks need more work.
You don't have to set it
Every tenancy starts with a sensible, somewhat conservative default. Most small firms never need to change it. The Risk Appetite page is there for firms that want to.
The levels
Conform uses the UK Government's Orange Book scale. Each level is the highest residual severity you'll accept:

Open | 4,000 (the top of Medium) |

Profiles
Recommended - the defaults for your business category.
Balanced - one step more open on each risk type (never past Open).
Custom - your own level for each risk type.
Where you see it
On the unit screen: within or outside appetite, and by how much.
On the Overall Risk Picture, Home and the dashboards: how many units are outside.
