When to use it
Use Data Composer for any record-keeping your organisation needs that Conform doesn't already do: incidents, assets, training, visitor logs, contracts, complaints, near misses. If you'd otherwise keep it in a spreadsheet, it probably belongs in a Topic.
What a Topic gives you
Fields of many types: text, numbers, money, dates, people, links, choices from lists and trees, photos and files.
Lists and trees to choose from, such as categories, sites, departments, or regions down to offices.
A workflow, so items move through stages such as Reported → Investigating → Closed.
Roles, each seeing and editing only what it should, and only the items in its part of the organisation.
Forms for entering and updating items, and grids for viewing lists of them.
PDF forms for printing or sharing an item.
Import and export, so you can bring existing data in from a spreadsheet and take it out again.
